| David Lovegrove is a professional artist, writer and teacher who runs his own Art and Design studio. He works in a wide variety of artistic disciplines, producing fine art works, book illustrations, comic books and manga, digital art and design, and concept art for film and TV. David's work as a concept artist/digital artist (including artwork for the Spielberg WW2 TV series "The Pacific", due out early 2009), makes David an ideal presenter for art departments and film & TV studies within schools who would gain a lot from his workshops in concept art and digital art for Film, TV and the Games industry. - - David trained at a classical art school in Sydney, (The Julian Ashton Art School), for 3 years, gaining a thorough grounding in traditional figure drawing and painting skills, and at the same time was a active part of the Australian Comic Book scene.
- - He has also studied with some of Australia's best illustrators, including Tony Champ (the Courier Mail) and Glenn Lumsden (The Phantom, Batman).
- - David has been teaching children and adults drawing, painting, cartooning and comic book art, in Sydney and locally, for the last 12 years.
- - In all his classes and workshops he establishes an easy rapport with all ages, and teaches by demonstration and with lots of enthusiasm and encouragement.
- - He emphasises the amazing range of new artistic and career possibilities available to the trained artist with traditional as well as digital skills, and he shows participants how an artwork can develop from an inspired idea to a pencil sketch to a full colour painted work (either traditional media or digital media (Adobe Photoshop etc).
David can tailor workshops and courses according to your particular needs. MASTER CLASSES IN FIGURE DRAWING FOR CONCEPT ARTISTS / FANTASY ARTISTS. These workshops are for all levels of figure drawers, from untaught beginners to working professionals. David's unusually profound background in figure drawing studies and years of practice allow him to pass on to the keen drawer the key solutions to the common problems of drawing realistic and expressive figures from life, as well as giving the participant the keys to creating believable figures and creatures from imagination - the most important attribute of the professional concept artist and fantasy illustrator. Depending on the age and needs of the participants the workshops would work from the live model, photographs and figurative plaster casts. Interestingly ConceptArt.Org, the worlds foremost concept art forum (based in Hollywood) promotes and teaches the classical system of learning to draw and paint from the plaster cast and figure (David's background) as the essential training for all up and coming digital concept artists.
