The Last Word
Allison Rushby is offering a one-hour talk in Term 4, 2018 and Term 1, 2019. Alison first delivered this talk at the Brisbane Writer's Festival in September 2018.
In her hour-long talk "Stay Weird, Stay Different and Write What you Love", Allison delves deeply into the tricky world of writing inspiration. She explains how listeners can tune in to their everyday environment in order to "spark" ideas that will get them writing and how the best writing always stems from a true sense of self.
Allison is the internationally-published author of over twenty novels. Her latest Middle Grade novels are The Mulberry Tree and the Davitt award-winning The Turnkey. A sequel to The Turnkey, titled The Seven Keys, will be published in 2019. Allison enjoys speaking to children in Years 3-7.
“A children's story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children's story in the slightest.”
