Book Week Wrap Up

Congratulations everyone – Book Week 2017 is now officially over and from all accounts it was a huge success!

Of course there are still lots of Schools waiting to celebrate but we thought it was an appropriate time to provide a bit of feedback.

Speakers Ink helped to organise 99 bookings during official National Book Week which is up 20% over 2016.  All this is due of course to the fantastic family of speakers that we represent and the wonderful Schools and Libraries that continue to embrace all that the speakers have to offer.

On behalf of everyone at Speakers Ink thank you for your continued support!

Moving forward, please note that our calendar for 2018 Book Week bookings will officially open at the beginning of Term 4.

Explore our full list of Speakers on our website - Speakers Ink.  Want to make a booking?  Complete the online booking form today.

Here's to National Book Week - Escape to Everywhere!

The exhibition will be at Holland Park Library from August until September and Wynnum Library from October to November, 2017.  The 2018 venues are still being finalised. There are many wonderful authors and illustrators of Anzac stories available for visits, as advised in the last newsletter. IN ADDITION Corinne Fenton also has a book in the  Exhibition - 'My Friend Tertius' illustration by Owen Swan and published by Allen and Unwin (released March this year).  Corinne is also available for Brisbane based bookings from late November - mid December, 2017.

The
International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) is a non-profit organization which represents an international network of people from all over the world who are committed to bringing books and children together. Join IBBY Australia Inc on Thursday 19 October for a special evening featuring an inspiring address by David Metzenthen, the Australian nominee for the Hans Christian Andersen Award for Writing 2018.

Voices on the Move

Brian Falkner will be visiting Hervey Bay in the week commencing Monday, 16th October, and is available for bookings on Monday, 16th and Tuesday, 17th October in that week.  Liz Anelli is researching in the Northern Territory.  Other Speakers Inkers on the move can be found here.

Brian Falkner is an award-winning international author and writing coach. He is a highly sought-after speaker in schools around Australia, the US and New Zealand. His infectious enthusiasm, humour and energy make every appearance a popular and memorable one.

Liz Anelli is actively looking for any schools/museums/galleries who would like her to come and give talks and/or workshops in the Northern Territory while she is up there researching for her new book, a sequel to Desert Lake. Liz is hoping to make two trips - one very soon - in October and one around April next year.

To book Brian, Liz or any of our wonderful speakers for your school or library, please visit our website: Speakers Ink.

The Spotlight is on 2 of our FOUR New Voices

As promised in our last e-bulletin, Speakers Ink is thrilled to welcome two more wonderful authors/speakers.

Allison Paterson is the very talented author of the 2016 ABIA and CBCA longlisted title Anzac Sons: Five Brothers on the Western Front but this title is just one of many that Allison has written. She presents talks and workshops in a range of situations and to audiences from kindergarten to retirement villages, Anzac Day and Remembrance Day services, libraries, book shops, service clubs and of course, she loves to visit schools.

Andrea Gallagher is the author of two children’s alphabet picture books, Superstar Grandmas and Mega-rad Grandads. After more than 15 years of working as a writer and communications specialist in the corporate sector, Andrea stepped out to create books and inspire a love of writing and a special appreciation for her favourite subject-matter, grandparents.

Congratulations to...

All of the talented authors, illustrators, poets and performers who were included in the CBCA's Notables, Short Lists, Honour Books and Book of the Year awards. You are all awesome.
Wendy Orr, whose book Dragonfly Song was an Honour Book in the Younger Readers category of the CBCA Book Week awards.
Liz Anelli whose book, One Photo was a CBCA Notable this year. In addition, her book, Desert Lake, has been shortlisted for a number of different prestigious awards around the nation.

Walker Books has commissioned Pamela Freeman and Liz to create a sequel, set in the Northern Territory.
