Ipswich District Teacher-Librarian Network

The IDTL Network is made up of staff from primary schools and public libraries around Ipswich, Queensland. They coordinate regional CBCA Readers Cup competitions, host a Kids Lit Quiz heat, run writing camps and competitions and organise professional development workshops. Each year they publish a book of ideas on how to celebrate CBCA Book Week with children. A Biennial Festival of Children's Literature, StoryArts Festival Ipswich, is also organised by the Network.

StoryArts Festival Ipswich Opening Event 2024

You are invited to join us to celebrate the opening of StoryArts Festival Ipswich and Reading is Magic, an exhibition of renown Australian Illustrators accompanied by students from Goodna and Springfield Schools. Sunday 4 August from 3:30pm 
at the Ipswich Community Gallery, d’Arcy Doyle Place, Nicholas Street, Ipswich. The exhibition will be in the Ipswich Community Gallery until 18 August. RSVP by 26 July.

Artist Talk - Lee FullARTon and Mr Chippa

Come along for chai and an artist floor talk by author and Illustrator Lee FullARTon. Lee will share the story of Mr Chippa the Woodblock Carver of Bagru as well as the back story of her journeys to India, inspiration for the story and her collaboration with Kamlesh Vyas, Ranu Khan and the woodblock carvers of Bagru (Rajasthan India). Lee will also share her art practices and influences from Indian art and culture.

Marc McBride Workshop

The workshop will combine creativity, how to get your work seen and technical aspects such as airbrushing, colouring pencils and computer art. During the workshop Marc will show the process of creating artwork and characters. Beginning with imagination and where ideas come from, he will teach the five elements of visual language- colour theory, light, shape, line and texture.

Woodblocks and Rangoli - StoryArts Festival Ipswich Workshop

Between Monday 2 August 2021 and Wednesday 4 August 2021
Join Lee Fullarton in this delightful workshop that explores the traditional Indian Art practices of Block Printing and Rangoli. Like in Lee’s picture book Mr Chippa the Woodblock Carver of Bagru you will create your own printed works using traditional blocks from India. We will also discover how to create beautiful patterns using colour, repetition, and symmetry as we design individual and collaborative rangoli. Free event for children aged 5-11.
