Corinne Fenton

Corinne Fenton

Corinne is an award winning author with a passion for picture books, often true stories and almost always about animals. Her books, published in Australia and internationally, fiction and non-fiction, are always stories which touch the heart. Her latest title, Lionel and Me, has been Shortlisted in the CBCA Book of the Year Awards in the Early Childhood section.

When Corinne visits schools, libraries and festivals, she shares her passion, her process and research skills with students. She has a strong belief that picture books are for all ages and can be used in so many ways in the classroom and beyond to complement the curriculum. Her presentations and talks are always full of fascinating details on how she finds and creates her stories.

For almost eight years, Corinne (as King) was the Assistant Regional Adviser (Victoria, Tasmania and SA) of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators in Australia

In 2014/15 Corinne was the Judge for the Primary Schools section, throughout Australia, of the Dorothea Mackellar Poetry Awards. She has also been, on two occasions, a Fellow of the May Gibbs Children’s Literature Trust.

Testimonials

  • Our student's at St Joseph's have been reading Corinne's books in for many years and were so excited for her visit. She did not disappoint, and I would highly recommend her to other organisations. She engaged the students by speaking about her writing and was open to questions from our students. Thank you so much Corinne, we cannot wait for you to visit again.
