Dave Lowe

Dave is the Brisbane-based writer of twenty junior fiction and middle grade books, six plays, and an episode of the TV show ‘Bluey’: Café.
His Stinky and Jinks books (Piccadilly) follow the adventures of a boy and his genius hamster. The first book, My Hamster is a Genius, was highly commended at the prestigious Sheffield Book Awards in the UK in 2013 and the series (six books) has been translated into seven languages and sold over 250,000 copies worldwide.
Dave’s The Incredible Dadventure series (Allen & Unwin, 2017) follows the hilarious, death-defying adventures of Holly and her explorer dad. The first book, The Incredible Dadventure, won the Teach Primary Award (voted for by grown-ups) and Lancashire Fantastic Book Award (voted for by kids).
In 2023, Dave released Rocket, a middle-grade novel about a soccer-mad 12-year-old girl who moves to regional Queensland but who wants to keep her dream of playing for the Matildas alive (Five Mile Press).
Dave’s recent books include ‘The Witches of Anderson House’ series (DK), illustrated by Jennie Poh, and the ‘Ninja Bunnies’ series (Hachette), under the name Jake Hopkins.
In addition to his books, Dave has adapted Andy Griffiths’ Aussie classic The Day My Bum Went Psycho for the stage as well as adapting three of his own books, and two fractured fairy tales.
Dave is currently working with Ludo Studios on junior fiction books based on ‘Bluey’, and his book ‘Danger Creek Diary’, set in regional Queensland, will be published by Walker Books in 2027.
