Welcome to Term 4!
If you would like one of our wonderful speakers to visit your school or library for Book Week, or any other special event, please be sure to contact our office via a website enquiry, email or phone call (all contact details are on our website).
Rate Increase for 2020
During 2019 the Australian Society of Authors (ASA) has once again conducted a review of speaker rates of pay. The ASA is the governing body from which we base our standard fee structure.
Upon conducting a review of the new rates, Speakers Ink is pleased to advise that there will only be minimal increases in 2020. Moving forward, the ASA has advised that all rates will be subject to an annual CPI Increase. This means that on 1 January each year new fees will apply. Any booking secured prior to the end of 2019 will be costed at current rates.
Beat the Rate Increase and Win Books for your Library!
|
As an incentive to beat the rate increase, Speakers Ink is offering you the opportunity to win a "Mystery Bundle" of books for your Library. Any 2020 booking secured during Term 4 of 2019 will not only be costed at current rates, but will also put you in the running to win the "Mystery Bundle".
Contact Speakers Ink today - winner will be announced at the start of the 2020 school year.

The Spotlight is on Irena Kobald
|
Irena Kobald's first book, My Two Blankets was the 2015 Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Picture Book of the Year. It was shortlisted for the 2015 Prime Minister’s Literary Award, received a 'starred’ review for the Kirkus Prize (U.S.) and was reviewed in the New York Times Book Review (23/08/2015). Irena has done over 250 presentations with My Two Blankets in 9 countries and 3 languages. She is very proud of that - as it really is proof how much this story touches people.
Irena's second book, The Dream Peddler, has been submitted for consideration for the NSW Premier's Literary Award. The Dream Peddler is a very personal story about a young man's battle with drug addiction.
Irena was the Artist-in-Residence at St Joseph's College Toowoomba in July 2018. She is available for bookings through our website.

Congratulations - Jacqueline Harvey
Jacqueline Harvey's best selling book series Alice-Miranda is now screening for the first time on the BIG SCREEN in a fun-filled adventure, ALICE-MIRANDA FRIENDS FOREVER.
This is the story of Alice-Miranda Highton-Smith-Kennington-Jones. An extraordinary young girl, who at the age of nine and three quarters has organized her own early entry into boarding school along with her cheeky pony, Bonaparte. The movie is a treasure trove of marvelous mysteries that need solving and a whole stack of challenges Alice-Miranda and her friends must face. Luckily the girls are up for it!
The animated movie is being played at Event Cinemas. The movie will play from 9 November and there are lots of special events planned around the country.
All tickets are $12 and the screening is for a very limited season (just two weeks). The details are available from the Event Cinema's website linked here.
Jacqueline is thrilled to see her characters brought to life in this way.
