Welcome Back!
Happy New Year everyone!
I'm sure all schools and libraries have had a wonderful start to the New Year and activities are settling into a rhythm.
Bookings have been rolling in, so if you are planning a special event for CBCA Book Week, or any other week of the year, please be sure to contact our office via a website enquiry, email or phone call (all contact details are on our website).
Each year Speakers Ink also looks into ways to support new talent and add to our variety of speakers, and this year was no exception. As such be sure to check out our full list of speakers - we added quite a few new members to our family towards the end of 2019 and over the holiday period.
Rate Increase for 2020
During 2019 the Australian Society of Authors (ASA) has once again conducted a review of speaker rates of pay. The ASA is the governing body from which we base our standard fee structure.
Upon conducting a review of the new rates, Speakers Ink is pleased to advise that there will only be minimal increases in 2020. Moving forward, the ASA has advised that all rates will be subject to an annual CPI Increase. This means that on 1 January each year new fees will apply.
Winner of our Mystery Bundle of Books for your Library Competition
|
As an incentive to beat the rate increase, at the end of 2019 Speakers Ink offered everyone the opportunity to win a "Mystery Bundle" of books for their Library - as a thank you for making an advance 2020 booking.
So without further ado - DRUM ROLL PLEASE........and the winner is - THE GAP STATE SCHOOL - Congratulations - we will be in contact shortly to arrange delivery of your "Mystery Bundle".
Thank you to everyone who made a booking prior to the end of 2019.

Vale Steph Bowe
|
It is with great sadness that we reflect on the passing of Speaker’s Inker Steph Bowe. Although young, she had three YA published novels to great acclaim. All who knew her speak highly of her kind and loving nature. Feedback from schools who were lucky enough to have her visit, all praised her enthusiastic, engaging and exciting approach to presenting to students. She will be sorely missed. Her novels were Swimming (Text Publishing, 2017), All This Could End (Text Publishing, 2013) and Girl Saves Boy (Text Publishing, 2010). Rest in Peace Steph.
All of us here at Speakers Ink pass on our sincere condolences to Steph's family during this difficult time.

Science Week with Kathy Hoopmann and Josie Montano
|
|
Kathy & Josie's book 'The Secret Science Society's Spectacular Experiment' fits in perfectly with Science Week! Schools/festivals can book these authors as a team: they have a very interesting presentation that includes not only information about the book, writing process, co-authoring and so on, but their presentation also includes a cool science experiment.
