Katherine Battersby is the critically acclaimed author and illustrator of eleven picture books and two graphic novels published around the world, including the Squish Rabbit series, Little Wing and the popular Cranky Chicken series. Her books have received glowing reviews in The New York Times, starred Kirkus reviews and been shortlisted for numerous Australian awards (including the Crichton Award and the Speech Pathology Book of the Year Awards).
Katherine is delighted to announce that her new book Party Animals (Cranky Chicken Book 2) has just been released in Australia.
"Cranky Chicken and Speedy the worm are back in another laugh-out-loud, heartwarming and brightly illustrated graphic novel for newly independent readers, as Speedy tries to plan a party for a hungry Chicken."
Katherine Battersby was our speaker and she, as always, was fabulous. She exceeded our expectations. You can't improve the experience as she's already perfect. We would definitely book her again if she was in Australia for next book week.

The Spotlight is on Kate Foster
|
Kate Foster has recently been welcomed into the Speakers-Ink family of creators. She is a children's author writing about friends, family, and dogs. Originally from a small town in the southeast of England, she now lives on the stunning Gold Coast in Australia with her family and second-hand dogs.
As a speaker, Kate is authentic, enthusiastic, and friendly in her approach. She talks sensitively but always positively and sincerely with children, with the help of an interactive PowerPoint, about autism and mental health, encouraging them to understand the internal, invisible struggles others may be having, to recognise behaviours, and how they can be a better friend to those around them, just like our canine buddies. She shares her own diagnoses with the children with the aim of smashing harmful stereotypes and misinformation, ending stigmas, and passing on her confidence and belief that every child she meets has an important story to tell and deserves to be heard.
Welcome, Kate.
