Reading is my Secret Power is the theme of CBCA Book Week this year and alongside the announcement of the 2019 Notables, a range of beautiful merchandise created by Bob Graham is now available on the CBCA website, to help with celebration of Book Week in your school or library. 

In line with this, speaker bookings have been vigorous, so if you are planning a special event for CBCA Book Week, or any other week of the year, please be sure to contact our office via a website enquiry, email or phone call (all contact details are on our website).

Voices on the Move 

Brian Falkner will be touring around Warwick in SE Queensland around the first week in April and would love to come to inspire young readers and writers at your school or library.
 

Brian is a master of his craft and is able to transfer that knowledge to the
young writers in an engaging and highly productive way.

Deborah Abela has also opened up a second week to visit Brisbane - the week commencing Monday, 20th May.

Deborah's presentation was engaging and fun. Younger students enjoyed Deb's storytelling, while upper grades were captivated with her personal family connection in her story "Teresa".
Children and staff have continued to share their enjoyment of our day with Deborah.

The Spotlight is on Ian Billings

Author and Performer Ian Billings has galloped across the world with his acclaimed stand-up literacy shows for all ages. His infectious glee takes the audience on a chuckle-stuffed ride into his (and their) imagination! Ian will be in Brisbane from June 3 - 22 and is available for bookings.   The students are still talking about it and we all went to work to develop interesting characters and settings in order to publish some interesting stories.  I personally noticed an improvement in several students’ writing due to the details they included. Congratulations

The works of many of our talented speakers have been recognised by award judges this week. The NSW Premier's Literary award shortlists were announced and included works by Caroline Mageri (Maya and Cat), Lorraine Marwood (Leave Taking) and Emily Gale (I am Out with Lanterns).

Congratulations - New Books Launched!

Candice Lemon-Scott		Candice has two additions to her Eco Rangers series - Pelican in Peril and Microbat Mayhem. The books will be published in April and June
Justin D'Ath		47 Degrees is based on the tragic Black Saturday bushfires, published in this, the year of the 10th Anniversary of the tragedy.
Anne Spudvilas text Jackie French		From the blurb: 'War may never truly end, but there can be homecomings.  This is a book about the joy of reunion and the enduring power of love.'
