Phil Kettle is the author of many series of children's books, including the soon to be released Out Back Clancy series.
It was with pleasure that we welcomed Phil through the Virtual Author Visit last week. The process was successful and Phil had the children eating out of his hands! He answered many questions and spoke passionately about his writing. The kids were engaged and enthused. Thank you so much for the opportunity. We look forward to negotiating Phil's presence in person at our 2020 Writers Festival.
St Mary's Primary School - October 2019
Phil will be in Brisbane 17-28 August 2020
In addition, Phil and illustrator Marc McBride, have developed a unique "Author and Illustrator Literature Festival" presentation that offers schools a full day immersive author/illustrator experience that ensure students will write a book in a day. Details on the daily presentation can be found under the "Workshops and Talks" tab on Phil Kettle's profile page.
Phil and Marc will be in Brisbane 1-31 July 2020

Tristan Bancks is a children’s and teen author with a background in acting and filmmaking. His books include the My Life series, Mac Slater (Australia and US) and Two Wolves (On the Run in the US), a crime-mystery novel for middle-graders.
Students were excited by and engaged in Tristan's sessions. The author was dynamic and adapted the presentation for the ages of the different groups. They loved to hear a real author read his own work aloud. Teachers loved the writing tips and insights into the writing process.
Gabbinar State School - August 2019
Tristan will be returning from overseas and has opened up his availability from 9 March to 10 April.

Author and Performer Ian Billings has galloped across the world with his acclaimed stand-up literacy shows for all ages. His infectious glee takes the audience on a chuckle-stuffed ride into his (and their) imagination!
The students are still talking about it and we all went to work to develop interesting characters and settings in order to publish some interesting stories.
I personally noticed an improvement in several students’ writing due to the details they included. This they remembered from you and I thank you.
Le Rosey, Rolle - Switzerland
Ian will be in Brisbane 1-19 June 2020.

The Spotlight is on CBCA notables and ABIA longlist
This month, we celebrate the CBCA Notable List and the Australian Book Industry Award Longlist. Congratulations to all the creators on these lists. In particular, we are very proud of these authors, and illustrators from the Speakers Ink stable, whose work has been longlisted. The ABIA award will be announced in April while the CBCA award will be announced in August.
New Books
Deborah Abela has written a new picture book entitled Bear in Space, illustrated by Marjorie Crosby-Fairall. The title will be published in August 2020, by Walker Books.
Bear was different. When he dreams of going into space, the other bears laugh. In space he feels at home, but also alone, until something extraordinary happens.
A story about being different and finding friendship in the most unusual places.
