We were delighted to host Tannya for our school visit. Tannya is an amazing illustrator and students enjoyed her illustrations for Dingo, Kookaburra, Mallee Sky and Heartbeat. She gave the students many tips on how the illustrations were made and shared her techniques. They enjoyed the drawing lesson with her easy-to-follow instructions. Tannya was an engaging speaker for all ages. She even included the students in a wonderful drama activity as well. I would definitely recommend Tannya for a [...]
Philip Wilcox was highly motivating. The students responded well and created excellent poems. The showcase was well attended and exciting. Phil was very generous with his time.
The kids, teachers and I were sooooo wrapped with what you did that we want to encourage you to come again! Even the children who were not there on the day have written to let you know that they have 'missed out' because all the others have been talking about it all since you have been. Thank you Nadia for fulfilling the desire I had of getting my students to write their own songs.
Students really enjoyed meeting Anil and making connections to her illustrations while learning more about her creative process. Her presentation was engaging and well paced, allowing students to gain a deeper understanding of how an illustrator brings a story to life. The interactive elements encouraged thoughtful participation, and her work with small groups gave students valuable opportunities to ask questions, share ideas and feel supported in their own creative thinking.
Peter Meares provided the after-dinner address to the fathers [at a Father & Son Literacy Weekend] by reflecting upon his literary and broadcasting experiences throughout his varied professional life. The range of experiences addressed, humour and humility enabled Peter to connect very well with his audience. The fathers were intensely interested in his stories, observations and encounters with sportspeople around the World and the developments that resulted in the authoring of his books. The con [...]
I was inspired so much when you came in and how you turned family history into an absolutely amazing book! I really hope that one day I can do the same
Fifi Colston came to Wā Ora Montessori School in 2022. The children thoroughly enjoyed her presentation as she captured their imaginations with the different stories about her past, including her childhood and how she came to be interested in art. They loved the things that she brought into school to show (including old exercise books from her own schooling). The children could see that she was passionate about all of her artistic endeavours and I would strongly recommend having Fifi in your sc [...]
Gwyneth Jane Page and daughter Megan were guest presenters at our annual literature Carnivale for 2017. The students thoroughly enjoyed their repertoire and the adventures of PJ Mouse. Both Gwyneth and Megan were able to maintain an interesting dialogue of narrative and illustration that kept the kids enthralled. They also spoke at length about their global travels and the advent of their main character PJ Mouse. The children asked many probing questions about our world and ways to keep it peace [...]
