Sandhya Parappukkaran’s session was focused on brainstorming ideas for writing topics. The students left the session truly inspired, begging to continue with their ideas when we returned to class. We have since been able to use these techniques in the classroom. This was an excellent session where the students learnt great skills, including incorporating their own cultures or special memories into their writing.

An author, a bear and a pyjama parade, oh my! The Claremont Community Hub & Library hosted Sharon during Book Week 2021. The children [and parents] both watched on as she brought her heart-warming and funny book “Bedtime Daddy” alive. Sharon was a skillful storyteller who clearly knows how to engage with her audience. Of course, a book about bedtime meant we got to wear our pjs to work… Best day ever!

Speakers Ink is an agency that handles my requests and questions promptly and efficiently. I like that they don't bombard me but give me enough assistance to make our author visits successful. I always feel comfortable in my dealings with Speakers Ink.

Cori Brooke was invited to speak to our Prep to year 3 students, as a part of our Book Week 2020 celebrations. She captivated them with her stories, funny props and entertaining anecdotes. She explained her personal writing process very well and it was very inspiring for students to see her notebook. Our students were full of questions and wonderment at meeting her as an author and I can report that they were thoroughly entertained for each of the 45 minute sessions. Candice entertained our P-3's with her stories. The students loved the puppets and getting to be part of the show. Candice's interacted wonderfully with our students and catered for all of the levels in the different classes.

Mark was wonderfully engaging and energetic. His performance style really brought stories and poetry to life, and the students were highly interactive throughout his session. The use of rhythm, rhyme, and audience participation kept everyone involved and excited. Teachers also commented on how well he adapted to the age group and inspired students to play with language in creative ways.

Kim Michelle Toft delighted our Year Three students during her recent visit. Kim is a vibrant and entertaining speaker who not only shared her experiences as an author but also entertained the audience with book reading, singing and dancing. One of the highlights was watching her paint in 'real-time' - what a talented person! The school has purchased her silk painting as a beautiful momento of her amazing visit.

Our Prep, Year 1, and Year 2 students were treated to an inspiring visit from award‑winning First Nations author and illustrator Gregg Dreise on Friday, 6 March. Gregg brought his stories to life with vibrant artwork, humour, and uplifting messages about culture, kindness, and connection. Students loved his energetic storytelling and creative demonstrations, making it a memorable experience for all. Tim Harris delighted our upper primary students and their teachers with his creative writing workshops. Tim engaged the students with his hacks for narrative writing and the teachers could not have been happier with the content. Tim modified his workshop for each year level. His books are very much in demand in our library.
