What people are saying
Angela adapted her presentation to our specific needs. She was engaging, informative, professional and personable. The students enjoyed her presentation and gained a lot. As her presentation was from an illustrator's perspective, she reinforced the classroom teachers analysis of picture books. The teachers commented that she explained a lot of things that were particular to an illustrator's profession which enhanced their knowledge of visual literacy. Next year we would like to have longer sessi [...]
The whole process of booking and arranging the visit was very easy, so thank you for such a streamlined process.
Jess Black visited our school as part of our Book Week celebrations to provide workshops for our students in Prep to Year 3. The students enjoyed hearing about Jess's books and the inspiration for her stories. Her visit has generated a lot of interest in her books. Jess differentiated workshops for different year levels.
The speaker engaged the students. Students were impressed by the presentation.
Thank you for single-handedly bringing my 10 year old son back to reading.
I enjoyed the memoir writing workshop opportunity. It made me think very differently about why and what I'm writing. In addition to what I learned, I now have a clear path on next steps. Sarah taught me a lot about being more creative. Her session truly opened my mind. She's clear in message, and compassionate in approach.
Edwina Shaw was a fabulous addition to our Literary Festival. She taught our Year 9 boys to write effectively by engaging their interests and making writing relatable and enjoyable. Her creative techniques, meditation and visualising were effective in drawing out their ideas and encouraging personal expression. Shaw's approach included interactive activities, real-life examples, and positive reinforcement to build their confidence and skills in writing.
Pamela's visit was very well received by our girls. The PowerPoint presentations and worksheets she used to accompany her workshops with our year 8 and 10 girls were engaging and useful for the girls when thinking about how to successfully structure a story. I would thoroughly recommend Pamela for an author visit to other schools, particularly all girls' schools as many of her novels deal with females as the main protagonists.
Belinda’s presentation style was very suitable for our students. She connected well with all year levels and understood how to engage them. I was very impressed with her style personable and very approachable for students. I would welcome Belinda again to speak to our students.
We recently booked Andrew King for the Robotronica event at QUT Gardens Point. Andrew's storytelling style fitted perfectly with the First 5 Forever early literacy program. Andrew engaged in conversational reading with the children, discussed the illustrations, brought along characters from his books and encouraged the children to draw their own Bear Bot. He also brought along stickers and design paper for the children to use. I would recommend Andrew King to other organisations and would be onl [...]
