Everything was well organised and went to plan. James was an excellent speaker and engaged with all year levels. He was easy to work with and left some of his drawings for the school to display. I would recommend him to others.
We did fun designing and i prefer design over writing. She was engaging and I had a good time. The workshop I enjoyed the most was the workshop run by Astred Hicks. This is because the content explored in her presentation was really interesting and gave an insight into book design. I thought exploring book design was interesting because you don't normally get to hear about how book covers are designed, and what goes into designing them.
We have finished our Step into Stories program and it was a great success. I have heard nothing but wonderful comments and praise about Trevor Fourmile.
Pip was a very engaging speaker for our students in years 4, 5 and 6. Her book The Little Wave, resonated strongly with the children at my school because we live in the area where her book is set. Pip read out her picture book which is due for release next year and this was a great opportunity for the students to see metaphors, similes and personification come to life on the page and to see first hand how it enhances writing and meaning. Many of our teachers were also inspired and went straight [...]
I think for a school to miss an entertaining and informative seminar by David would be a sad loss for any school community, especially since poetry needs to 'come alive' for students through meaningful rendition.
Deb was a very engaging speaker and performer. The children really enjoyed the visit and have been madly borrowing her books. Deb pitched her talk to each year level and managed to have everyone laughing and learning at their level - including the teachers.
Kate and Jol were great. Their enthusiasm for writing and reading books was contagious. Students were inspired to write their own stories and their books are flying off the shelves in the library. Kate and Jol were very generous with their time and we would have them back here in a heartbeat.
All communications with Speakers Ink Agency were effective and prompt. Staff were very pleasant to deal with.
“Tiff is a fantastic environmental educator and storyteller. She brings to life her enchanting book Wonder Earth with her captivating props, teaching the students about the cycles, patterns and processes which sustain life on Earth. My students have loved her lessons and come away with a much deeper understanding of their connection to the natural world”.
Tony was a great hit with the students (at the Primary Taster Day) and they really enjoyed his workshops.
Prue Mason did a great writing workshop with the 4-7s using hats. The kids were busy the whole time and she left the worksheets for the teachers to continue using in the class.
Matt did a great job stimulating the boys’ interest in an alternative look at Brisbane’s past.
