Kate & Jol Temple - Term 1 NAPLAN sessions
Kate and Jol have created a practical talk to give kids real tips that break down story into simple steps and provide the tools for getting the pen moving. This talk looks at narrative structure, creating a hook, rising tensions and sticking the landing, and is designed to make narrative writing feel accessible and fun for all kids in the lead up to Naplan. What people are saying
Many children would never normally have the opportunity to meet a 'real life' author so it was nice for them to have the chance to see the book and the author at the same time. Robert was patient, keen and enthusiastic to answer all students' questions. Author visits encourage children to try and write their own stories and never give up. Our students left talking about writing and illustrating their own books. Thanks for the inspiration.
Fantastic connection to the students, very easy going and such a humble man.
The speaker engaged the students. Students were impressed by the presentation.
Thank you for single-handedly bringing my 10 year old son back to reading.
Pamela's visit was very well received by our girls. The PowerPoint presentations and worksheets she used to accompany her workshops with our year 8 and 10 girls were engaging and useful for the girls when thinking about how to successfully structure a story. I would thoroughly recommend Pamela for an author visit to other schools, particularly all girls' schools as many of her novels deal with females as the main protagonists.
Thanks so much Vicki for your presentations to the year 9s, especially your patience with the kids! They really enjoyed your talk. Thanks again.
Belinda’s presentation style was very suitable for our students. She connected well with all year levels and understood how to engage them. I was very impressed with her style personable and very approachable for students. I would welcome Belinda again to speak to our students.
I enjoyed the memoir writing workshop opportunity. It made me think very differently about why and what I'm writing. In addition to what I learned, I now have a clear path on next steps. Sarah taught me a lot about being more creative. Her session truly opened my mind. She's clear in message, and compassionate in approach.
Edwina Shaw was a fabulous addition to our Literary Festival. She taught our Year 9 boys to write effectively by engaging their interests and making writing relatable and enjoyable. Her creative techniques, meditation and visualising were effective in drawing out their ideas and encouraging personal expression. Shaw's approach included interactive activities, real-life examples, and positive reinforcement to build their confidence and skills in writing.
Communication was very clear and exceeded our expectations.
Angela engaged the students with her presentation. They benefited from both her story-writing guidance and her advice about illustration.
Jess was such a warm visitor to our school who catered for different year levels and engaged the students.
