As part of our Literacy Day celebrations, we had a very special visit from author and illustrator duo, Haydn and Damien Crespan. The Crespan brothers shared their writing process, the detail behind each illustration and how they’ve overcome challenges such as a colourblind illustrator! We were truly captivated by their debut children’s book, ‘The Adventures of Triz’. Not to mention, their dinosaur display and the REAL fossils they brought for us to explore.

Zachary Ashford tailored his presentation to a diverse and large cohort of students. His sessions were interactive, engaging and entertaining. Zach sought feedback constantly and communicated effectively throughout our visit. Would definately recommend!

I wanted to let you know about the success of the Writers’ block event, at Robina branch library and auditorium last Saturday. It was such a good day and the feedback we received on the speakers was overwhelmingly positive. Venero was very engaging, great to work with, and pitched his presentation perfectly for the event. He made it so easy for City Libraries to look good. Thanks for your assistance in finding excellent speakers to make this event so successful.

Darren was very friendly to staff and students. He was more than willing to give extra time to speak to the students in a one on one environment. He was very engaging and got lots of audience participation with a game. Would definitely use Dave again as a speaker at our college.

This week guest author Charlotte Barkla inspired and nurtured the creative minds of our Year 5 and 6 students and encouraged our budding writers. Through the sharing of her own writing process she ignited a spark in each participant, motivating them to explore their own creativity and dive headfirst into the world of writing. Lucia's friendly personality and interesting presentation really engaged our 4 groups of students from Year 1 to Year 4. She was funny and animated and simply a delight! They also enjoyed the "drawing class" and question and answer time at the end of each session.The comments from staff and students after the performance were all positive.

Josie was very well received for her generous and genuine talk about what it is to be a writer and how to get started. The students, teachers and parents from the Fascinate writing program really responded to Josie's talk

Louise was a wonderful hit with the kids. Open and engaging, her sessions were a great success. She was very giving of herself, her adventures as a writer and publisher, and the stories she has shaped with such creative imagination. Children from Kindergarten through to Year 6 were delighted to bring her stories to life through sound effects, dress ups, and re-enactments. A passionate advocate for children’s literacy, Louise was the perfect ambassador for our Book Week celebrations.

Matt was great. Well prepared, informative, good with the children, arrived on time and emailed ahead of time.

Gus was inspiring in his passion for stories and his encouragement to students that they can all create their own stories from their own lives. He was warm and friendly with staff and students and welcomed student's questions and input.
