We were delighted to welcome author Kristin Darell to St Martin’s Catholic School in early October. Our Stage 2 and 3 students thoroughly enjoyed listening to Kristin share stories about her life, her passion for writing and her latest chapter book series, Football Fever. Randa was not only warm and open with our students, her presentations were very well organised, and interactive. She is amazing at what she does. Her ability to tell her own story, challenge perspectives whilst interweaving opportunities for students to explore their own thinking and writing was truly a privilege.

Annie came a long way to speak to a LOT of children. She was delightful, just like her books, and the children were engaged and responsive. Annie went to the trouble of bringing lots of her original illustrations and our students were fascinated to observe her serenely painting a watercolour illustration as she answered their questions.

Thank you so much for your collaboration in organising the presenters for our literature carnival. This entire week has been an outstanding success. Thanks to Michelle, who has been instrumental in the delivery of the workshops. Each presentation had every student engaged. She really knew how to present to the children. The feedback from parents was fantastic. The children had gone home and told their parents how fantastic the presentation was. Great messages for the students about the writing process.

We had Shane McCarthy in the Senior School and he was terrific! Shane worked with Years 7-10 English classes and thoroughly engaged the students. He also struck up many informal and enthusiastic conversations with both staff and students between classes. The English faculty were very impressed with the way in which Shane interacted with the students and got them thinking about their writing and viewing.

The visit was initially booked by my predecessor and the change of contact was handled without issue. The visit was seamless and positive.

Josh is a great speaker and has been a part of our Writers Festival for several years now, and we look forward to having him back! His ability to keep students actively listening while presenting is great! His stories are interesting, informative and sometimes a little quirky which our Yr 7's loved!

We all thought the session was brilliant and as you could see the children were thoroughly engaged.

Morsi showed a contagious commitment and was an excellent communicator. His target audiences are without doubt teenagers and adults. Having Morsi at our school was very positive and eye opening! The presentation was engaging, succinct and explicit. Ideas/information relevant to in-class writing program - how to improve students' own writing using different techniques. Important tips of pursuing a career in writing. It was good to hear from a "real life" author.
