Choose Your Own Adventure!
To tie in with the 2025 Book Week theme, ‘Book an Adventure’, Dave Lowe has adapted his popular ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ workshop, as a ‘presentation’-style 45- / 60-minute session for large groups of students, from Years 3 to 8. In this fun, highly-interactive session, Dave will share insights into ideas-generation and plotting, and give each student a story template, as well as all the tips and tricks they’ll need to make their own short ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’-style book that they can take home and try out on friends and family.

What people are saying
Leigh was incredibly well organised and extremely engaging for our entire school. He managed to run 3 sessions that were interactive and inspiring for all 900 of our students.
Kerry was a great speaker and more than met our expectations. Would definitely recommend her to others.
Dee read from her book 'Beyond Belief' and shared the incredible story behind its creation. The students were captivated as she spoke about her writing process and the real-life events that inspired the book. After the reading, Dee conducted a fantastic writing workshop with our students, sparking creativity and helping them develop their own storytelling skills. We are so grateful for the opportunity to learn from such a talented and passionate author!
Karen’s motivating, inclusive style and high-yield activities really had the students at all abilities working hard, creating stories and experimenting with their imagination.
The sessions both with the students and with the teachers were fantastic. It made all the teachers talk about what and how we are teaching as well as ignited a passion in the teachers to implement changes to their practices.
Sue exceeded expectations. She was brilliant and received great feedback from our participants. Thank you for your service. It is great to work with such an organised team.
I think Kat Apel may be our Book Week treasure. The boys love you! Teachers, students and parents have loved hearing you talk about your books and your family, and all the teachers have been impressed with your style and your activities.
I just wanted to thank you on behalf of Ormiston College. Our guest visitors certainly enjoyed your presentation and as one person said on leaving “From now on I will be looking for his cartoon before I even read the front page.” Thank you again for being a part of our 25th Anniversary Literary Lunch.
Anisa was a hit with students and staff. Her fun informal style was engaging and it was great to see our students participating in word games. A number of my budding writers followed her to her car seeking advice. One of my more reticent young lady’s was particularly keen to seek her counsel. I would have no hesitation in recommending her to friends and colleagues.
Sarah's whole school performance and workshop sessions were so incredibly engaging and captivating. She was able to retain the attention of all students from Kindergarten to Year 6! Sarah's presentation was fun, exciting and very humorous. She has left our students incredibly inspired, thank you Sarah!
Nadia was inspiring, energetic, motivating and supportive of all the participants.
Francis gave an engaging talk to our students on writing feature articles based on her experiences. The practical activities she used with the students were great.
Andy had a well organised, engaging and interactive presentation. He shared some of his published books, talking about the process of getting a book to a published state. Andy also brought in his version of a 'writer's notebook', which tied in very well with our students' own launch of personal writer's notebooks. Andy was engaging and entertaining for our yr 3-6 students, with his sketching and involving them in doing their own 'two animal' sketch.
