Choose Your Own Adventure!
To tie in with the 2025 Book Week theme, ‘Book an Adventure’, Dave Lowe has adapted his popular ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ workshop, as a ‘presentation’-style 45- / 60-minute session for large groups of students, from Years 3 to 8. In this fun, highly-interactive session, Dave will share insights into ideas-generation and plotting, and give each student a story template, as well as all the tips and tricks they’ll need to make their own short ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’-style book that they can take home and try out on friends and family.

What people are saying
It was lovely to meet a generous, thoughtful person who cares about reading and the impact it has on young readers.
Fantastic connection to the students, very easy going and such a humble man.
We were thrilled to host Sarah Speedie for an Author Visit at our Primary School during Education Week this year. Sarah was a delight to deal with and came to us thoroughly prepared. She saw our students across Grades 1, 2, 3 & 4 and had put together a presentation designed for each year level based on the Curriculum and what we were currently working on in Literacy. The students were very excited to be meeting a 'real life' author! They listened intently to Sarah's book reading of Mozzies Vs Fl [...]
Tristan was on time, well-prepared and very engaging. He pitched his talk to Year 7s perfectly and it was a good mix of talk, video and music. Students commented very favourably afterwards and hopefully picked up some useful tips for creative writing.
Rachal’s style of thinking and her approach to people leadership brings teams together, engages a room of people big or small and challenges all to think outside the box.
Easy to find and book speakers. Much easier than contacting authors individually as many do not answer anyway.
Sarah was insightful and inclusive with participants and created a safe atmosphere for people to be revealing about their memoirs. I would have loved this workshop to go for two days or at least one! It gave me ideas and I loved the chance to do some writing. It was interesting to hear the memoir ideas from other people and to connect with them, even if very briefly.
It was great to accompany you to your presentations at Hornsby and Cherrybrook Primary Schools. You held the children's attention and they really enjoyed The Little Stowaway. It's now in its second print run. Congratulations.
All of the students were engaged. He appealed to our Preps and then kept the Year 6’s and 7’s very busy in a building activity. He was very generous with his time and interacted very well with the students.
Angela’s presentation, Hooking the Reader, hooked me straight away. She has taken the basics of good writing and condensed them. In fact, there's everything you would find in a novel-length book on good writing in a well-pruned form. Her advice applies to all genres. None of us have time to read pages of examples and personal experiences of an author. I'll treasure my notes on her presentation and look forward to drip-feeding them to my writing group.
Trevor Fourmile gave the students great insight into his culture. He shared stories and personal experiences. We would definitely book Trevor again. Both teachers and students enjoyed and appreciated what he had to share. The service from Speakers Ink was excellent. We will book with Speakers Ink again.
