Michael Salmon’s session today was absolutely awesome – a very entertaining and engaging online session! Vacen presented a series of engaging workshops for our students in years 4, 5 and 6 at our 2020 School Book Week. It was wonderful how she catered her program around “writing focus” requests from teachers. The children thoroughly enjoyed not only the writing activity but also the chance to learn about “World Building” in Fantasy writing and character development. Vacen was prepared, professional and it was a pleasure hosting her here at Our Lady of Mt Carmel.

My Kindergarten children love to meet all different people in all different jobs and roles, so they were beyond excited to have a real life author coming to Kindy to share their book. The Narrative Workshops in Year 3/4 conducted by Chrissy Byers were extremely rewarding for students. They were well run and made efficient use of time. The visual prompts used were engaging and made it possible for the students to clearly structure a narrative into beginning, middle and end. Yvonne is a delight to have in a school environment. She is easy to work with and has a vibrant personality. It was Yvonne's second year in a row at our school. This year, we put Yvonne in our art room, where she taught our students Sidney Nolan's painting technique. Yvonne made the students feel like successful painters for their session. All the boys now have a painting to show for their time with Yvonne.

Mark presented to our Lower Primary students and his sessions were brilliant, from start to finish. Each presentation was tailored perfectly to the age group, full of rhyming fun, songs and hitting many important literacy targets along the way. The teachers were thrilled and the children left wanting to devour his books. I would highly recommend Mark to other schools.
