Kate & Jol Temple - Term 1 NAPLAN sessions
Kate and Jol have created a practical talk to give kids real tips that break down story into simple steps and provide the tools for getting the pen moving. This talk looks at narrative structure, creating a hook, rising tensions and sticking the landing, and is designed to make narrative writing feel accessible and fun for all kids in the lead up to Naplan. What people are saying
Matthew, as ever, is a delight. Warm, accommodating, inspiring. Our teachers and students benefit from his wisdom and genuinely enjoy his presentations. Most of all, we love the conversations he develops with us during the day.
We were thrilled to have you visit our school! Your engaging presentations truly captivated the students and staff, reinforcing the love for books. I don’t think I have laughed so much during any other author visit. Your books have been going like hotcakes! It’s wonderful to see the students so excited about reading!
David Hallett challenged many of our students' personal views of poetry and politics. His performances allowed students to appreciate the malleability of poetry, highlighting the fact it is far more than words on a page.
“We thoroughly enjoyed the workshop! Tiff’s use of props and visuals to connect with the themes in her beautiful book was very engaging and stimulating for our students. The students and I loved learning about Wonder Earth with Tiff”
James was a huge hit with our students and his sessions sold out - up to 800 students in our biggest venue. He had the kids enthralled and was such a pleasure to work with too. He is very easy going and positive.
We have now booked Prue Mason for the past 4 years and she always meets our expectations. When students have read and analysed one or two of her novels and can then ask questions of the author face to face, it is very special. Her workshop makes the reading relevant but also stimulates in the children an interest to write for fun. We shall book Prue for next year and would encourage other schools to do so as well.
Pip was very engaging with the students (years 3-6) and teachers. She was very personable and professional. Pip's ppt presentation was a great tool to help her share her story.
Jonathan was great with the boys. He read to them, explained his writing and illustrating processes and then invited the boys to draw ideas that he could use in his new book. The boys were totally engaged for the session.
Astred Hicks has recently delivered a guest lecture to a group of students in the Master of Publishing program, for the second year in the row. Her expertise, passion, and ability to engage and inspire the students were truly remarkable. Her love for books and design was contagious, which created a positive and inspiring atmosphere in the classroom. Astred encouraged students to embrace creativity, think outside the box, and push the boundaries of traditional book cover design and illustration. [...]
Sandie and the team are prompt with communication and very accommodating.
Our students enjoyed listening to Dr. Cameron Stelzer. They were so enthusiastic that students showed their younger brothers and sisters how to draw some of the characters at home. Cameron obviously made a great impact. An overwhelming number of students came in with book orders and I have a reserve list waiting for the library copies. I would definitely recommend Cameron to other schools.
