Wow, what an amazing week! This Book Week was truly the best experience I’ve had in my 16 years of program management at our school. Chris exceeded my expectations. Booking an unknown author from interstate is always a bit of a gamble, but Chris’ professionalism and knowledge of his craft were outstanding. The teachers and boys from the ELC were most impressed!

We have been using Speakers Ink for a number of years and will continue to use the service. As always the service is user friendly, reliable and provides a wide range of authors.

Gus provided wonderful examples of how his story ideas come from his life experiences and made the concept of becoming an author an idea the students could really understand.

Josie was really well prepared and put the focus on key aspects of Podcasting which I know meant she had to reframe lots of her story writing info. She had lots of great advice and interesting ideas. (Customised Presentation)

Leigh was incredibly well organised and extremely engaging for our entire school. He managed to run 3 sessions that were interactive and inspiring for all 900 of our students.

The boys loved Jo's presentation and they liked her tips for building the story particularly her travels to Finland for research.

Paridhi visited our classroom last term to motivate the children's narrative writing. She demonstrated how she illustrates her story books, read one of her stories and completed some guided drawing with the students. The children were very engaged and interested in Paridhi presentation. They were wowed when she used her technology to show how her draft drawings could be turned into the finished coloured illustrations. Tim Harris presented to our students in virtual presentations. He engaged with the students and was attentive to the audience and their questions. Tim apologised for not being able to present live due to illness and more than made up for this via the virtual presentations.

Lucia provided sessions across the school from Prep to year 6. She was able to tailor her presentation to engage the different audiences while maintaining the authenticity of her messaging about the role of an illustrator. Student engagement was very high, particularly when engaged in drawing.

Thank you to Dr Charlotte Birkmanis for acting as MC, moderating our second panel, ‘The Wonder in our Blue Backyard’ and coordinating WA World Ocean Day. Charlotte’s knowledge and passion for the industry were instrumental in the success of World Ocean Day 2024.

Irena's presentation was wonderful and more than met my expectations. She was also incredibly patient with me as we muddled through with the tech side of digital author visits and conscientious about following up. I would recommend her to any library service and hope we have the opportunity to work together again at some point.
