We recently held a Literature & Arts Festival at St. Catherine's Catholic College, The Whitsundays for our Secondary students. All the authors that attended were entertaining, engaging and inspiring. I have had so much positive feedback from students, staff and library colleagues. Melinda reinforced many of the ideas we have been sharing with the teachers, about being a visible reader, along with her own experiences of reading and how to get young people reading and building a good reading culture, including author visits and finding the right book. Best of all she read us a story, which fitted well with an overarching theme of Wellness.

Sophie was brilliant, informative, tailored to meet what the kids were doing, exploring in class. The writers workshop was also great, kids got a lot out of it and are enthusiastic to write and have their work shared with others. Really enjoyable.

Lisa and Tracey exceeded our expectations!!! From our Prep class to our Year 8 class they were engaging, humorous, informative and warm. All classes were highly engaged and all of our teachers said that they were the best speakers we have ever had at our school! They were brilliant. Morsi showed a contagious commitment and was an excellent communicator. His target audiences are without doubt teenagers and adults. Having Morsi at our school was very positive and eye opening! Giuseppe was excellent for our Year 6 children. He came early and spoke with the teacher about the exact expectations and what the students wanted to get out of the session. He catered for this in his presentation and gave some great examples of how students could get started with drawing images. His presentation was excellent and well thought out and planned. Katherine Battersby was our speaker and she, as always, was fabulous. She exceeded our expectations. You can't improve the experience as she's already perfect. We would definitely book her again if she was in Australia for next book week.

The Meanjin writers' camp hosted Dimity Powell recently. Dimity was fabulous and positive feedback was received. The students were very happy.
